Up for sale, a 1980 Greco Super Real JG700 in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. This rare “lawsuit era” Greco is the direct precursor to official Fender Japan production, made at the Fujigen factory just two years before that factory was awarded the contract to make genuine Fender instruments. Only mentioned in one Greco catalog, the JG700 is an extremely well-crafted Jaguar-style instrument with numerous unique features that set it aside from early Fender Japan production including an ash body, slender V-shaped neck profile carve, silver Rhythm Circuit control wheels, a wide bevel pickguard, flat pole pickups, and a gloss Candy Apple Red finish with matching headstock.

The pickups are notably full and rich, with a woody, percussive cut and plenty of overall body. This JG700 faithfully captures the versatile range of Jaguar tonalities: the sound can get sinewy and snappy with the bridge pickup favored and bass cut switch engaged, or toggle to the Rhythm Circuit for fatter, rounder tones. This Greco weighs 9lbs 1oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 11-49 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.
