Up for sale, a 1980 Gibson ES-335 Pro in showroom-clean, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and hangtags. Only produced from 1979-81, the Pro was a Norlin-era updated take on the 335, described by Gibson as the “guitar that 335 lovers have been desiring for years.” This particular example was produced for export to Japan, as evidenced by the Nihon Gibson peghead decal and hangtags.
Tonewoods include a maple body (maple centerblock) and maple neck with a bound rosewood fingerboard, ensuring terrific natural treble detail and articulation. A more “rock oriented” ES-335 model, the Pro was loaded from the factory with Gibson’s hot ceramic magnet Dirty Fingers humbuckers. Extremely potent and geared for heavy gain, this ES-335 sings with plenty of snappy treble cut, thick bark and focused low end punch. This ES-335 Pro weighs 8lbs 8oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
