Up for sale, a 1980 Aria Pro II Rev-Sound Series model RS-750 in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Produced at the Matsumoku factory in Japan, this Rev-Sound Aria Pro features neck-through construction with a seven-ply maple/walnut neck, ash body wings with a maple core, and a rosewood fretboard. The neck-through construction offers excellent natural sustain and resonance, and the midrange complexity and heft of the ash body is faithfully captured by the stock trio of RSP-2 single coil pickups. There’s plenty of single coil snap and sparkle on tap, and this Aria Pro II features a unique wiring configuration. The middle pickup has a “slave” design, built to complement the bridge and neck pickups (it doesn’t function independently on the three-way pickup selector) and provide a humbucker-esque fullness and warmth when either of the two-way Mix-Switch mini-toggles are engaged. Additionally, the two-way Phase Reversal switch enables slinky, out-of-phase squawking sounds when the middle pickup is engaged. This Aria Pro II weighs 7lbs 8oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation. The seven-piece maple/walnut neck has a slender C-shaped profile carve at the nut, gaining more heft and shoulder in the upper registers, measuring .800” deep at the 1st fret and .920” at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard has a 9 1/2“ radius with oval pearloid inlay, and the stock medium jumbo fretwire is practically perfect. This Aria Pro II plays cleanly up the 25 1/2“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the nut measures 1.650” (42mm) in width. The headstock sports a Rev-Sound Series logo, and the stock set of Kluson-style tuning machines turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch, with consistent surface patina on the nickel plating. The back of the headstock retains the inked serial, dating this guitar to 1980, and the heel-less neck is contoured for exceptional access to the upper frets. All of the electronics function as intended; the pickups are governed by a three-way rotary pickup selector knob, Master Volume, independent Neck/Bridge Tone knobs, two-way “Mix-Switch” middle pickup switches (to engage the middle pickup with either the neck or bridge single coils), and the two-way Phase Reverse switch. The original trio of knobs are present, and the small pickup selector pointer knob is also original, having been split and glued back together (it sits securely on the pot shaft). The brass hardware all has a consistent dusting of patina, including the bridge and premium tailpiece, which is recessed into the body. The gloss Natural finish highlights the grain of the ash body wings and plies of the neck through construction. Cosmetic wear includes a number of minor dings on the body as a whole, most prominent along the lower bout perimeter and on the back. The neck profile retains its smooth gloss, with a scant few shallow marks along the profile length that have no impact on playability.A gigbag is included.
