Up for sale, a 1979 Greco SW-1200 in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case. This exceedingly rare Greco archtop was produced in limited quantities at the Fujigen factory in Japan for just one year, featuring a 15” lower bout width (2 5/8“ depth), pair of Maxon-made PU-113A humbuckers, “Tension-free” tailpiece with fine-tuners.
Tonewoods include an arched spruce top, maple back and sides, and a maple neck capped with a bound ebony fingerboard. The fully hollow body has a bold, woody natural acoustic tone with a glassy treble cut attributable to the ebony fingerboard. The pair of PU-113A humbuckers are notably full-sounding with a sweet, smooth quality to the low end, great midrange cut and ample treble detail, ensuring optimal clarity for complex chords and rich, singing melodic playing. Weighing 8lbs 7oz, this Greco SW-1200 has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with low action, 12-53 flatwound strings and accurate intonation.
