Up for sale, a 1979 Gibson Explorer II E/2 in 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case. Only produced from 1979-1983, this unique Gibson was designed as a refreshed take on the Explorer platform, with a bevy of distinctive features including a five-ply walnut/maple beveled, sculpted body, Dirty Fingers humbuckers, “Sustain Sisters” brass inserts beneath the Nashville bridge and TP-6 fine tuning tailpiece, and a gloss Natural nitro lacquer finish.

The neck is also crafted from walnut and maple, capped with an ebony fingerboard, and this Explorer E/2 weighs 9lbs 4oz. The pair of original "Dirty Fingers" Gibson humbuckers with exposed double black bobbins and double screw coils have incredible power, punch, and attack. Designed specifically for high gain situations with smooth compression and thick, churning drive, these high output humbuckers are aggressive and full-sounding. This Explorer E/2 has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, slinky action, and accurate intonation.

The body sports a unique carve at the waist, accentuating the maple body plies, and the gloss Natural nitro lacquer finish highlights the dynamic grain in the walnut. Cosmetic wear includes moderate buckle rash, a few small chips along the perimeter (the most prominent is adjacent to the forward strap button), and a number of minor dings and scratches on the body as a whole. The neck profile retains its smooth gloss.

A modern Gibson brown tolex hardshell case with form-fit plush interior is included.
