Up for sale, a 1979 Gibson ES-175D in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with a tweed hardshell case. A late Norlin era example, this ES-175 features a fully hollow 16" wide maple body, paired with a three-piece maple neck and bound rosewood fingerboard, delivering a bold, clear natural acoustic voice with excellent projection. The electronics are modern, with a pair of Gibson's '57 Classic PAFs at this archtop's heart. These pickups feature Alnico II magnet construction, with sweet, spongey lows, clear, complex trebles, and a balanced midrange quality. Offering more smooth growl in the bridge position and a thick, bell-like sound at the neck, this ES-175 covers plenty of tonal ground. Lightweight at 6lbs 15oz, this vintage Gibson has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 12-52 flatwound strings, spot-on intonation, and easy-playing action. The three-piece maple neck has a slender C-shaped profile carve with just enough roundness in the shoulders, measuring .800" deep at the 1st fret and .895" at the 9th. The bound rosewood fretboard is inlaid with pearloid split parallelograms and retains the original medium jumbo fretwire which has plenty of meat and shows minimal wear. The guitar plays cleanly up the 24 3/4" scale with a straight neck with a responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The nut measures a full 1 11/16" in width, and the headstock retains the original truss rod cover and a set of later Gibson Deluxe double line bolt bushing tuning machines with greened keystone buttons. There are some cleanly doweled mounting holes adjacent to the current tuner set. The serial dates to 1979, and the back of the headstock is embossed "Factory Second," for some small finish flaw imperceptible after nearly 45 years. All of the electronics work as they should, with clean decals on both '57 Classic PAF pickups. Hardware includes a modern Nashville bridge with a pinned rosewood base and a vintage  trapeze tailpiece with raised parallelograms on the string anchor, originally plated in gold and stripped back to the bare nickel. A small chrome-plated jack plate has also been added around the 1/4" input jack. Plastics include the original multi-ply pickguard and a modern quartet of reflector cap knobs. The original "Union Made" label is visible through the F hole. The original two-tone Tobacco Sunburst nitro lacquer gloss finish is intact, and cosmetic wear includes light buckle rash across the back and a few additional minor marks and light finish scuffs on the body as a whole.A tweed hardshell case is included.
