Up for sale, a 1979 Fender Telecaster in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. 100% original save for a professional refret and carved bone nut, this Tele features the original gloss Black finish over a swamp ash body, paired with a maple neck and rosewood fretboard. Weighing 9lbs 3oz with plenty of natural sustain and punch, this Tele has the midrange complexity and note attack inherent in ash as a tonewood, qualities which translate well through the original pair of single coil pickups. The bridge pickup offers a distinctive chewy twang and sparkle, and the neck has a bell-like, silky smooth quality. With both pickups engaged, the guitar has a clear percussive snap, equal parts cut and warmth, and ideal for rhythm work. We've had this Telecaster professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The maple neck has a medium C profile carve with moderate shoulder and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .850" deep at the 1st fret and .915" at the 12th. The rosewood fretboard features pearl dot inlay, refretted with flawless slender vintage-spec fretwire. The guitar plays cleanly in every register up the straight neck with an optimally adjusted, responsive truss rod. The nut has been upgraded to a hand-carved piece of bone, measuring 1 5/8" in width. The "S8" prefix serial number on the headstock face matches the original serialized sticker in the neck pocket, ensuring that this neck and body were paired from the factory. The Schaller-made Fender F-stamped tuners turn smoothly and hold pitch well.

The electronics are 100% stock with an original gray bobbin bridge pickup with brass baseplate and black bobbin neck pickup. The CTS pots date to the 7th week of '79. Hardware is all original, comprising the bridge with barrel saddles, control plate, and pair of knurled knobs. The gloss Black finish is 100% original with no touchup or overspray, exhibiting wear on the lower bout where the forearm crosses the top, with a sliver of wear down to the sealer coat exposing the bare ash, as well as a large finish chip on the back edge. Honest playwear includes various finish chips, scuffs and dings on the body as a whole, largely on the back and body perimeter, as well as one line of finish checking behind the bridge on top. The ambered gloss on the neck profile shows wear through the finish on the bass-side fretboard edge from frets 1-9, along with some additional small marks on the profile length.

The original molded plastic hardshell case is included, retaining all latches and the stock handle.
