Up for sale, a 1979 Fender Stratocaster Hardtail in excellent condition and in perfect working order. This no-nonsense Strat has a thick, powerful tone with the midrange richness and snap associated with a solid ash body, as well as the sustain and power of the string through body design. At 9lbs 4oz, this Strat delivers plenty of natural punch channeled into a potent electrified sound. Outfitted with a trio of vintage gray bobbin pickups, there's plenty of jangle and snap at hand, with quack and cut in the "in-between" settings on the five-way switch, and notable woof and thickness from the neck position single coil. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar and strung with 10-46 roundwound strings, this Strat is dialed in and ready for stage and studio work. The neck has a moderately chunky C-shaped profile carve with round shoulders, measuring .860” deep at the 1st fret and .940” at the 12th. The original frets are intact, leveled and crowned, still retaining enough meat for effortless bending and currently showing no wear. The guitar plays very easily up the neck and this Strat is the kind of guitar that wants to be played hard, with a solid-feeling maple neck that is straight and reliable. The nut measures 1 9/16", upgraded to a hand-carved piece of bone for optimal note clarity and sustain. On the headstock, the original Fender "F" tuning machines turn smoothly and hold pitch as they should. The original date stamp is still faintly present on the neck heel, with the original serialized sticker in the neck pocket matching the S9-prefix serial on the headstock. All of the electronics work as they should, with two original gray bobbin single coils paired with a third similar era gray bobbin and a modern harness featuring CTS pots and a Switchcraft five-way switch. The chrome plating on the original hardtail bridge is notably clean, and the plastic parts include original pickup covers paired with a modern three-ply guard and knobs. The ash body has particularly dynamic grain patterns, and the body has been semi-professionally refinished in a semi-gloss that has settled into the grain of the body. There are just a few exceedingly faint finish scratches on the body, and sparingly little wear has accrued since the new body finish was applied. The original gloss is intact on the neck profile, with natural palm wear through the finish on the fretboard edges and only a few tiny marks, barely perceptible to the palm while fretting.A modern molded Fender hardshell case with TSA latches is included.
