Up for sale, a 1979 Fender Musicmaster Bass 1x12” combo amplifier in excellent condition and in perfect working order. This Silverface era Fender amp was produced from 1970 to ‘82, introduced as a companion to the Musicmaster Bass. A simple, no-frills affair, this amp features a single channel, dual-input design, rated at 12 watts, with Volume and Tone controls, loaded with the original CTS/Fender ceramic magnet 12” speaker.

Despite being designed as a bass amp, this Musicmaster Bass combo is more well-suited for guitar, throwing tons of sound with a notably aggressive upper-midrange hump and breaking up early on the dial (around 3 or 4) into thick, organic overdrive and crunch. Roll off the Tone knob for broad heft and rumbling punch, or open it up for searing, aggressive bite.

The circuit is very original, recapped where necessary, and the original transformers are present, with date codes spanning late 1978 to early ‘79. The tube complement comprises a matched pair of Electro Harmonix 6V6 power tubes and a Russian-made EHX 12AX7. The original CTS Alnico 12” speaker is present, and the stamp on the frame dates to the 32nd week of 1979.

The original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth is intact with very little wear, and the Silverface faceplate with turquoise graphics and original witch hat knobs is very well-kept.
