Up for sale, a 1979 Fender Champ in perfect working order. Clean and stock, this Champ delivers a tone with chiming and dynamic cleans that give way to sizzling overdrive as you turn up the Volume knob. It's a perfect pint-sized Class A amplifier for studio use, and with a microphone in front of it, this amp can sound like a giant. It's hard to beat the Champ for simplicity and tonal purity.
The circuit is 100% original save for a single capacitor in the preamp, with stock Schumacher transformers that date between late 1978 and early '79. The original ceramic magnet 8" speaker is intact, manufactured by Oxford and dating to the 39th week of '79, with a faint "Fender" silkscreen on the magnet. The tube chart is present inside the cabinet too. The tubes include a vintage RCA 5Y3 rectifier, Electro Harmonix 6V6 power tube, and modern 12AX7 preamp tube.
The original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth with blue stripe is intact, and all of the original hardware is accounted for as well, including the raised Fender logo, sphinx glides (feet), chassis straps, corners, and handle caps. The brushed aluminum faceplate is quite clean with turquoise silkscreening and original witch hat knobs, and there's modest wear on the enclosure edges, with one small snag central to the grillcloth.
