Up for sale, a 1979 Dobro Model 27 Deluxe in exceptional condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. This roundneck Dobro is a rare model produced in limited quantities by OMI (pre-Gibson buyout) in Huntington Beach, California.
This single cone resonator features a 14” wide maple body (3 1/4” depth) with a spider bridge, delivering plenty of plucky punch and a crisp, bold tone. The roundneck design makes this Dobro a great candidate for slide work or fretting, and the maple construction gives the instrument a distinct articulation and treble snap. The added twin piezo disc pickups provide additional on-stage flexibility. This Dobro weighs 7lbs 5oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 12-53 bronze strings and ideal action for both slide and fretted playing.
Neck Specs:
-Wood: Maple
-Shape: Substantial C, baseball bat heft, measuring .865” 1st fret, 1.070” 9th fret
-Fretboard: Ebony, harp inlay (same as Jerry Douglas model), 14 frets clear of the body
-Frets: Narrow/tall, virtually no wear
-Scale Length: 25”
-Nut: 1 11/16”
-Tuners: Grover Rotomatics
-Serialization: X-prefix, 9-suffix (stamped on top of peghead)
Body Specs:

The gloss finish is Natural on top, Sunburst on the back and rims, exhibiting subtle checking across the body. Cosmetic wear is limited to faint buckle rash on the back and bass-side rim (at the waist), a handful of minor nicks along the lower bout perimeter, and a few light scratches on top along the strum path. The neck profile retains its smooth matching gloss.
The original black tolex hardshell case is included.
