Up for sale, a 1978 Yamaha Super Flighter SF-1000 in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. Produced from 1977-80, this uncommon, top-tier Yamaha offering is an exceedingly versatile and dynamic instrument. While its “Les Paul Killer” sibling the SG is better known, this less common model easily rivals that guitar when it comes to quality craftsmanship, top-notch componentry, and the breadth of available tones on tap, including single coil tonalities enabled by the “bi-sound system” push-button global coil tap.
Tonewoods include an alder body with a carved maple top, maple neck, and ebony fretboard, and this guitar has a balanced natural acoustic response with a glassy treble snap. The F-I humbuckers are detailed and punchy with great harmonic complexity, and there’s a sweet, singing quality to the upper midrange. Via the global coil tap, the single coil sounds retain great warmth while delivering plenty of sparkle and cut.
