Up for sale, a 1978 Yamaha Super Combinator SC1200 in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. Only produced from 1977-80, the SC1200 was the top tier model in the Super Combinator line, boasting neck-through construction and a trio of ceramic single coil pickups with independent three-way On/Off/Phase mini-toggles, delivering a vast array of tonalities.

The five-ply neck is crafted from birdseye maple and mahogany, with alder body wings and an ebony fingerboard, and this SC1200 weighs 7lbs 15oz. Each of the ceramic single coil pickups is bold, sparkling, and silky, with great string-to-string balance and responsiveness to string bends via the blade pole pieces. The three-way On/Off/Phase mini-toggles yield a number of compelling sounds, particularly when the pickups are paired out of phase for spanky quack, as well as Neck/Bridge combinations and glassy bridge-centric bite. This SC1200 has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The gloss Natural finish highlights the construction techniques and the birdseye figuring in the maple, with cosmetic wear limited to mild buckle worming on the back at the lower bout and a few minor dings on the body as a whole, consistent with careful use. The smooth gloss on the neck profile is flawless save for a few shallow marks behind frets 1-2 that are not distracting to the palm while fretting.

The original black tolex hardshell case is included.
