Up for sale, a 1978 Greco SA-550 in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. This “Lawsuit Era” Greco was crafted at the venerable Fujigen factory, evoking an ES-335, yet with a fully hollow thinline body and ebony fingerboard, loaded with Maxon U-1000 humbuckers.
The fully hollow construction gives this Greco more body and warmth than a 335, yet the ebony fretboard and three-piece maple neck ensure additional immediacy and treble detail. The Maxon U-1000 pickups are wound in the spirit of Gibson’s PAF, harmonically rich, sweet and sonorous. The neck pickup has a round, warm quality with an accentuated midrange, while the bridge pickup is clear and smooth. Featherweight at 6lbs 8oz, this Greco has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The gloss Wine Red finish presents much closer to Cherry, framed by cream binding and exhibiting broad checking. Cosmetic wear is limited to faint buckle rash central to the lower bout, light scuffing on top, and a handful of minor dings on the body as a whole, primarily concentrated along the lower bout on the top and body perimeter. The gloss on the neck profile is flawless.
A gigbag is included.
