Up for sale, a 1978 Greco EX800 HR Explorer in excellent condition and in perfect working order. One of the more unique and rare "lawsuit era" instruments produced at the beginning of one of Japan's most storied periods of guitar production, the EX800 faithfully replicates Gibson's Explorer design with a mahogany body and lightly figured maple top (pre-dating Gibson’s Explorer CMT by a few years).

Weighing 9lbs 3oz, tonewoods include a lightly figured flame maple top, mahogany body, and a maple neck capped by a rosewood fingerboard. The original pair of Maxon-made U-2000 humbuckers feature Alnico V magnets, offering good top end growl, sustain, and punch. These humbuckers respond well to thick overdrive and deliver an open, dynamic response. This EX800 HR has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The gloss Cherry Sunburst finish exhibits vertical checking on the back, an area of finish chipping on the bass-side body point, one small repaired split on the back extending between the control cavity and jack plate, and a few additional nicks and scuffs consistent with light use. The gloss on the neck profile is flawless.
