Up for sale, a 1978 Greco EG800 in excellent condition and in perfect working order. This “lawsuit era” Greco was crafted at the Fujigen factory in Japan, designed as a faithful recreation of Ace Frehley’s legendary “Budokan” Cherry Sunburst Les Paul Custom, made famous during KISS’ iconic shows at Tokyo’s Budokan Hall in 1977.
Weighing 10lbs 5oz, tonewoods include a two-piece “sandwich” mahogany body with a lightly figured carved maple top, a three-piece maple neck, and an ebony fingerboard. The original trio of Maxon-made U-2000 humbuckers feature Alnico V magnets; these pickups are articulate and warm, with a familiar growl and sustain, built to deliver rich, creamy overdriven textures. Medium output, these humbuckers have a punchy quality, responsive to pick attack, and the central pickup is wired in-phase for an extra full middle position tone. This Greco EG800 benefits from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The gloss Cherry Sunburst finish has one touched-up ding on the bass-side lower bout on top, and the small pickguard mounting holes have also been cleanly doweled. There’s a small area of shallow buckle scuffing on the bass-side upper bout on the back, and some minor dings and finish scuffs from use. The gloss on the neck profile is smooth and clean, with one small finish chip beyond the bass-side edge of the nut (outside where the palm makes contact).
The original black tolex hardshell case is included.
