Up for sale, a 1978 Greco EG600PR triple pickup LP Custom electric guitar in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and optional pickguard. This expertly crafted Japanese guitar clearly takes its cues from its Gibson cousin (no relation), and while this Greco falls squarely under the umbrella of the famed "lawsuit" guitars in a general sense, no action was ever taken against Greco for these very faithful iterations.Produced at the Fujigen factory just prior to Greco's Super Real line of instruments, this EG600 has a distinctive look designed to capitalize on Ace Frehley's now iconic triple pickup Cherry Sunburst Custom. The guitar features a "sandwich" mahogany body, veneer maple top, and the original trio of Maxon-made U-1000 humbuckers which deliver a great spin on the classic PAF tone, boasting ample harmonic content, great punch, and an overall full and rich tonal character. There's plenty of bite and chime in the top end too. The guitar weighs 8lbs 15oz. An elegant and easy to play LP, this Greco has been professionally setup with low action, solid intonation and fresh 10-46 strings. The three-piece maple neck has a slender C profile carve with modest shoulder and a fast feel, measuring .830" deep at the 1st fret and .935" at the 12th. The doweled neck tenon joint (same style as many of the Super Real instruments) is visible in the neck pickup cavity, and the rosewood fretboard is the only feature of the instrument that's a bit more akin to a LP Standard, although the pearloid block inlays and binding still reference a Custom. The fretboard retains the original medium jumbo frets which have plenty of meat and their full factory height, showing virtually no wear and playing cleanly in every register. The original nut is a hand-carved piece of bone for optimal sustain and clarity measuring 1 11/16" wide. The headstock has multi-ply binding, the classic "open book" shape, and split diamond pearl inlay. The chrome tuners turn very smoothly and sport metal tulip buttons. All of the electronics function as intended, with original date stamps on the baseplates of the Maxon-made humbucker trio. The chrome hardware is gleaming, and the original plastic parts are near mint. The Cherry Sunburst gloss finish is warm and ruddy, highlighting light flame figuring extending across the maple. Cosmetic wear is limited to just a few tiny nicks and light finish scuffs on the body as a whole, and the neck profile retains its smooth gloss. The original black tolex hardshell case with gold interior is included, along with the original (never installed) pickguard, with its protective clear factory film still intact.
