Up for sale, a 1978 Gibson ES-335TD in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and 100% original save for a set of Grover Rotomatic tuning machines. Boasting an uncommon feature set for a late '70s ES model, this 335 has a full 1 11/16" nut width, T Top humbuckers (as opposed to Tarbacks), a factory stoptail, and a traditional control layout eschewing the coil tap seen on most 335s of the era.

Tonally, this Gibson delivers the goods, and the bridge pickup is clear, defined, and plenty warm, with a surprising amount of chime and punch. With both pickups engaged it's easy to dial in an ideal rhythm tone that has just enough percussive cut and roundness, and with the neck pickup singled out, things fatten up nicely, yet stay clear. With semi-hollowbody maple body construction and a three-piece maple neck, this Gibson has a warm and full-sounding natural acoustic tone with the articulation and snappy note attack of maple augmented by the inherent breadth and sweetness of the semi-hollow body design. The guitar balances well on a strap and weighs 8lbs 6oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with roundwound 11-49 strings, accurate intonation and low action.

The nitro lacquer Wine Red finish is particularly dark and saturated, and cosmetic wear is limited to some stand rash on the back lower bout body edge and a few additional light finish scratches and minor marks from careful use. The neck profile exhibits natural palm wear central to the carve, and the neck has a particularly silky feel.

The original black tolex hardshell case with red plush interior is included. The case has functional latches, the original handle, and clean gold Gibson silkscreen on the lid.
