Up for sale, a 1977 MXR Distortion + in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original box. An early block logo example of the Distortion +, this pedal retails the germanium diodes of the early "Script" examples, along with a back plate that still retains the script "MXR" text. The Distortion + has appeared on the pedalboards of a number of legendary guitarists, from Randy Rhoads to Jerry Garcia to Bob Mould.
A true industry workhorse, the Distortion + can deliver everything from a mild overdrive to more fuzzed out saturation, always at home pushing the front end of a tube amp. Set the Distortion control low and crank the Output knob to push the front end of an amp for bluesy grit, or max out the Distortion knob for classic early ’80s hard rock saturation. The circuit is untouched, and the original CTS pots date to the 23rd and 27th weeks of '77.
The enclosure exhibits some nicks and scuffs, largely concentrated around the edges and bottom of the unit. The original knobs are intact, and the graphics are pristine.
