Up for sale, a 1977 Mesa Boogie Mark I 1x12” combo in excellent condition and in perfect working order. This early rendition of the pioneering Mesa Boogie amp delivers the distinct sonic range made famous by players including Carlos Santana, Larry Carlton, Robben Ford, Eric Johnson, Keith Richards, and Pete Townshend.

Complete with the original JBL K120 speaker, this Mark I delivers quintessential Mesa cleans and rich, focused overdrive, with a wide range of versatile, vital tones easily accessed via the deceptively simple control configuration. There’s a natural fatness and punch to the sound, engineered to complement just about any pickup you throw at it, and dialing up the higher gain settings yields a harmonically-complex, unrelenting distortion. The interface includes Volume 1, Volume 2, Master, Treble, Bass, and Middle knobs, with additional Gain Boost and Pull Bright push/pull controls. Additionally, a five-band EQ provides even more surgical tone-sculpting precision, and the Presence, Reverb, and Slave Level knobs can be found on the back panel.

This amp also features a rare voltage selector, with a knob on the back panel ensuring this Mesa can easily be used with a variety of voltages worldwide.

The circuit is virtually untouched, with original transformers manufactured by Schumacher, dating between the 51st week of ‘76 and the 25th week of ‘77. The CTS pots have visible date codes from the 44th week of '77, and the tube complement comprises a pair of Mesa 6L6 power tubes with a combination of Amperex and Mesa valves in the preamp. The JBL K120 speaker is renowned for its high-fidelity sound and punchy lows, featuring a heavy-duty rugged frame and alnico magnet construction.

The original blonde tolex is well-kept with some light wear on the enclosure edges, and the original wheat grillcloth is also present and similarly preserved. The faceplate boasts pristine graphics and its full complement of original witch hat knobs and slider tips.
