Up for sale, a 1977 Greco EG900 in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case. Crafted at the Fujigen factory in Japan, this “lawsuit era” Greco predates the Super Real series of instruments, boasting premium features including a pair of USA-made DiMarzio PAF humbuckers.
Taking a page from Gibson's early 1970s playbook, tonewoods include a two-piece maple top over a sandwich mahogany body, and a three-piece mahogany neck capped with a dark rosewood fingerboard. At 9lbs 9oz, this Greco dishes out plenty of natural sustain and sonic authority, qualities that are translated faithfully through the Dimarzio PAF humbuckers. These pickups are rich and articulate, with growl and power in the bridge position, balanced by a present, smooth neck pickup. This EG900 has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
Neck Specs:
-Wood: Mahogany (three-piece)
-Shape: Slender ‘60s-style C, measuring .835” 1st fret, .930” 12th fret
-Fretboard: Rosewood, flared trapezoid pearloid inlays
-Frets: Medium jumbo, faint wear on frets 1-3
-Scale Length: 24 3/4”
-Nut: 1 11/16”, bone
-Tuners: Gotoh
-Serialization: H77-prefix (August, 1977)
Body Specs:
-Wood: Maple (two-piece), mahogany (sandwich)
-Pickups: DiMarzio PAF humbucker x2 (USA-made, 1977 date stamps on baseplates)
-Harness: Untouched solder, full-size Japanese pots date to ‘77
-Hardware: Tune-o-matic bridge, stopbar (nickel-plated)
-Plastics: Gold bonnet knobs, cream pickguard and switch tip
The gloss Cherry Sunburst finish is bright and vibrant, and there are just a few dings on the back and lower bout perimeter. The gloss on the neck profile is flawless.
A vintage Japanese hardshell case is included with a blue plus form-fit interior.
