Up for sale, a 1977 Ampeg SVT tube bass amplifier head, freshly serviced and boasting a brand new matched sextet of Sovtek 6550 power tubes. Ampeg debuted the Super Vacuum Tube "SVT" amplifier in the summer of ‘69 at the Chicago N.A.M.M. convention. This amp was a milestone design, pushing 300 watts of all-tube power specifically geared for larger venues, cementing its place in the live world as the go-to backline stage rig. A vintage USA-made example with black line cosmetics, this SVT has been freshly serviced and thoroughly maintained to play its best, with rich, authoritative, articulate low end, ample warmth, and distinctly smooth Ampeg tone.

This SVT boasts a brand new matched sextet of Sovtek 6550 power tubes, and the preamp tubes are all viable as well, including a couple recently installed vintage valves (GE 12BH7 and Sylvania 6C4). The amp has been serviced as needed, with all voltages and capacitors checked to ensure a reliable, gig-worthy platform. The original Electrical Windings Company power transformer and filament transformer are intact, and the original output transformer is intact as well.

The head retains its original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth. The aluminum faceplate retains all of the original knobs and white rocker switches, with the distinct black line silkscreen graphics. The enclosure shows gigging wear as the photos can attest, with some added lettering from previous owners on the faceplate.
