Up for sale, a 1976 Guild D-35 NT in near mint condition, complete with the original hardshell case. A stunningly well-kept instrument that's received all the maintenance due an acoustic of this vintage, this Guild features a professional neck reset with a tall, carved bone saddle. Built in Guild's Westerly, RI factory, this USA-made example befits Guild's reputation for creating high quality, roadworthy guitars with a robust and dynamic tone. Guild has been building dreadnought acoustic guitars since 1963, and their instruments are revered for their value, reliability, responsiveness, outstanding projection, and sustain. The Guild D-35 dreadnought has a full-bodied, high volume body style that was developed with an emphasis on string-to-string balance, so that treble, mid and bass registers project evenly. The result is an incredibly musical and versatile dreadnought. Leveraging the traditional tonewood complement of a spruce top and mahogany back and sides to great effect, the D-35 NT has ample dreadnought muscle and presence, with a broad, booming bass register and sparkling snappy trebles. The note attack has a dry, percussive snap with a certain overall heft and bark that’s distinctly “Guild.” This D-35NT weighs 4lbs 14oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar and strung with 12-54 strings. The mahogany neck has a round C profile carve, inviting to the palm with generous shoulder while still being very easy to navigate, measuring .830" at the 1st fret, filling out to .999" at the 9th. The slab rosewood fretboard retains the original frets which have good meat and crown, showing virtually no wear. The guitar plays cleanly up the straight neck with a responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 1 11/16" in width, and the guitar has a full 25 5/8" scale length. On the headstock, the original flawless heavy-duty chrome tuning machines are intact and turn smoothly, and the headstock face has a gold silkscreened Guild logo, with a speckling of finish wear surrounding the original truss rod cover. The body has a spruce top with multi-ply binding, multi-ply soundhole rosette, and original dark tortoise pickguard which sits very flat with no curling edges. The neck has been professionally reset, and the rosewood bridge sits flush with the top on all edges, fitted with a bone saddle that has ample height for future adjustment. Visible through the soundhole, the original oval label is intact. The original nitro lacquer gloss finish shows just a few minor nicks and faint finish scratches on the body as a whole, and the lacquer is nigh pristine on the back and sides with a mirror shine. The neck profile gloss is equally clean, free of palm wear with just a couple tiny shallow marks. The original black tolex hardshell case is included and incredibly clean with functional latches, original handle, and large Guild badge on the exterior.
