Up for sale, a 1976 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. Tonewoods include a three-piece carved maple top finished in Wine Red, paired with a sandwich mahogany body and three-piece maple neck.
Tonally, the original mini humbuckers in this Les Paul deliver a round sound with great definition and punch. A perfect blend of humbucker and single coil tonalities, the mini hum's tonal properties are enhanced by the maple/mahogany body construction with both wooly bark and great treble cut. Acoustically, the instrument has a bold and articulate voice with no shortage of punch and sustain, and the instrument weighs 10lbs. The top end snaps and sparkles, while the bass register stays tight and focused, and each position on the three-way pickup selector is distinct and clear. We've had this Les Paul Deluxe professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
The three-piece maple neck has a slender C-shaped profile carve at the nut, with more roundness and shoulder as you travel up the fretboard, measuring .800" deep at the 1st fret and .965" at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard is a particularly dark cut of this tonewood, featuring pearl trapezoid inlay and the original medium jumbo frets which have Gibson’s low/flat factory fret dress of the era, retaining good meat and showing only light wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-8. The guitar plays easily in every register with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 1 11/16" in width. The headstock features the original Gibson Deluxe double line, double ring tuning machines with push-in tuner bushings. The original oval stickered serial number is also intact.
On the body, all of the electronics work as they should, with a wiring harness that retains all of the original CTS pots with untouched solder joints, dating to the 4th week of 1976. The mini humbuckers have patent number-embossed baseplates, with the "Williamsville" stamps seen on Gibson's late '70s humbuckers. The stock chrome hardware is particularly clean, including the Nashville bridge and corresponding stopbar. Plastics include the original cream pickguard, pickup rings, and switch surround, as well as the original quartet of gold reflector cap knobs.
The Wine Red nitro lacquer gloss finish is 100% original with no touchup or overspray, and the carved three-piece top has well-matched seams. The finish is a lighter shade of Wine Red on top, bridging the gap between Wine Red and Cherry, and the top is extremely clean, with one faint finish scuff in the gloss on top between the bridge and tailpiece, and only a few additional tiny marks. There is buckle rash central to the back, and some additional ancillary nicks on the back and body perimeter, while the gloss on the neck profile is clean and smooth.
The original black tolex hardshell case with gold plush interior is included.
