1976 Gibson Les Paul Custom Black Beauty Vintage Electric Guitar Ebony w/ T Tops, Case

Up for sale, a 1976 Gibson Les Paul Custom Black Beauty in excellent condition and in perfect working order. This Les Paul is loaded with a pair of T Top humbuckers, and the tonewood complement includes a carved maple top, sandwich mahogany body, three-piece maple neck, and bound ebony fretboard. Weighing 11lbs 7oz with plenty of natural punch and sustain, the maple neck and ebony fretboard ensure ample treble detail and glassy cut, qualities which translate faithfully through the T-Top humbucker pair. All three pickup positions are distinct and full-sounding, with more snap and taut low end from the bridge pickup, while the neck pickup has ample oomph and thick roar. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, we've dialed in this Les Paul Custom with fresh 10-46 strings, spot-on intonation, and low action.

The three-piece maple neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve, round shoulders in every register, and more chunk and substance as you travel up the fretboard, measuring .835" deep at the 1st fret and .980" at the 12th. The fretboard boasts multi-ply binding and pearl block inlays, refretted with medium jumbo fretwire which has plenty of meat and crown, showing no wear and playing cleanly in every register with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The upgraded hand-carved bone measures 1 11/16" in width, and the headstock retains the original set of Schaller-made and Gibson-branded gold tuning machines with metal tulip buttons. On the back of the headstock, the guitar sports its original stickered serial number.

The all-original electronics function as intended, with untouched solder joints on the harness and original quartet of CTS pots which date to the 10th week of '76. The original gold hardware includes the Nashville bridge and corresponding stopbar, with uniform patina across the gold plating. Plastics include the original pickguard, switch surround, and switch tip, with a quartet of modern black reflector cap knobs.

The Ebony gloss nitro lacquer finish is 100% original with no touchup or overspray, framed by ambered body and neck binding. Cosmetic wear includes light buckle rash central to the waist, and some additional dings and finish scratches on the back. Wear is more restrained on top, with a few tiny marks and a few concentrated finish scratches on the bass-side lower bout, likely from some wrist jewelry. The neck profile retains its smooth nitro gloss with just a few pinhead-sized marks indistinguishable to the palm while fretting.

A vintage Gibson "chainsaw" hardshell case with red plush interior is included.
