1976 Fender Precision Bass Vintage Bass Guitar, Natural Ash w/ Case

+ shipping

Up for sale, a 1976 Fender Precision Bass in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case. This Precision Bass features a Natural-finished ash body and one-piece maple neck, pairing the note attack, midrange complexity, and inherent muscle of the ash body with the added articulation of the maple fingerboard. Weighing 10lbs 6oz, the bass delivers ample thump and broad low end via a modern Fender American Vintage black bobbin split coil pickup. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Precision Bass is strung with medium tension 45-105 flatwound strings, dialed in with comfortable action and accurate intonation.

The neck has a medium depth U-shaped profile carve with full shoulders, measuring .865" deep at the 1st fret and .980" at the 12th. On the maple fretboard, the bass features black dot inlay and the original medium jumbo fretwire which has been leveled and crowned, currently showing sparingly little wear. The bass plays cleanly up the 34" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 1 5/8" in width, upgraded to a hand-carved piece of bone. On the headstock, the original tuning machines with large clover buttons are present, functioning as intended with clean chrome plating. All of the factory stamps are present on the neck heel and in the pocket, with a bold green inked stamp on the heel that dates to '76. There is a notable ding on the top headstock edge, and a partial professionally addressed split extending from the E tuner post.

All of the electronics work as they should, and the Fender American Vintage pickup is wired to the original harness with CTS pots that date to the 13th week of '76. The body has been cleanly routed in the past to accommodate a humbucker, and the route is covered by a replacement three-ply black pickguard which has a small repaired split by the input jack. Hardware includes the original pair of knobs, the serialized four-bolt F neck plate, and a modern Fender four-saddle bridge.

The gloss Natural finish exhibits forearm wear through the gloss on the bass-side lower bout on top, with additional localized wear through the finish on the outside edge of the treble-side body horn. There is buckle rash along the belly contour on the back, and various additional dings and finish scuffs on the body as a whole. The neck profile retains its gloss finish, with palm wear through the finish on the profile shoulders and additional wear on the board itself from frets 3-7.

A modern tweed hardshell case is included.
