Up for sale, a 1976 Fender Bassman 50 head in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Introduced in '72, the Bassman 50 is a rebranding of the original "Bassman" head. This particular example benefits from a thorough checkup by our techs here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar to ensure optimal functionality. The Bassman pushes 50 all-tube watts via a pair of properly biased Svetlana 6L6GC power tubes, delivering a robust and dynamic clean tone with plenty of muscle and headroom. After around 5 on the Volume dial, the amp pushes into smooth, lightly compressed tube overdrive, and the Master Volume allows greater flexibility for grit and bite at lower volumes. This Bassman is a great pedal platform too. The circuit features original Schumacher transformers that date to 1976, along with original CTS pots which have visible date codes from the 30th week of '76. The circuit is very original, with some modern metal film resistors and one new cap in the preamp. The original caps in the power supply are still viable, and the amp has a three-prong power cable. The chassis itself is quite clean, with a Silverface faceplate, turquoise lettering, and original black witch hat knobs (one of which has a small chip on its skirt). The original tube chart is also present inside the head cabinet. The original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth with turquoise stripe are intact and in great shape. The stock corners, handle caps, and sphinx glides (feet) are also present.
