Up for sale, a 1970's Roland AS-1 Sustainer in collector-grade condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original box. One of the very first pedals offered by Roland before the Boss brand was created, the AS-1 features an optical compressor paired with a transistorized distortion circuit.
Doing exactly what it was designed to do, the pedal has a smooth, singing quality with increased treble bite. The optical compressor circuitry was directly inspired by a similar Colorsound circuit, and the distortion is natural-sounding and mild.
The cast metal housing is stunningly well-kept, complete with the original reflector cap knob pair, large rubberized pad around the on/off switch, and near mint faceplate. The back plate retains the original battery compartment sticker (complete with two of the same silver screws seen on the earliest Boss pedals), along with the stock rubber feet.
The original box is included.
