Up for sale, a 1975 Rickenbacker 425 in perfect working order. This uncommon vintage Rickenbacker model features a Walnut gloss custom color finish, a color later rechristened "Montezuma Brown" when this popular sunburst finish variant was briefly reissued as part of Rickenbacker's Color of the Year program. Perfect for shimmering cleans and handling overdrive particularly well too, the centrally located Hi-Gain pickup is dynamic and clear-sounding, and the guitar is also exceptionally light at only 6lbs 6oz. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this vintage Rickenbacker 425 boasts low action, 10-46 strings and effortless playability.

The maple neck has a round and substantial C-shaped profile carve with generous shoulders in every register (largely due to the notably thick slab rosewood fretboard), measuring .925" deep at the 1st fret and .955" at the 12th. The fingerboard has been fretted with super jumbo fretwire which has tons of meat and shows virtually no wear. The guitar plays cleanly up the 24 3/4" scale, and the truss rod is a new replacement, functioning as it should. The nut measures 1 5/8" in width, and on the headstock, the original "Rickenbacker" truss rod cover and Kluson Deluxe double line tuners are intact. There is a small amount of repaired fretboard separation along the 1st fret on both sides of the neck carve, professionally addressed and extremely common with vintage Rics.

All of the electronics work as intended, and hardware includes the bridge with "OE"-prefix serial number which translates to a May, 1975 production date. Plastics include the original black pickguard (with a couple stable, repaired splits on either side of the pickup selector) and a pair of small substituted barrel knobs. Cosmetic wear on the Walnut gloss finish includes broad horizontal finish checking on both the back of the body and headstock, various minor dings and scuffs on the instrument as a whole, and a very small area of targeted buckle wear on the back of the bass-side body horn. There is additionally some finish chipping on the body perimeter, largely localized along the lower bout edge.

A modern molded Rickenbacker hardshell case is included.
