Up for sale, a 1975 Fender Stratocaster in excellent condition and in perfect working order. 100% original save for a replacement nut, this Strat boasts an ambered Natural gloss finish over the dynamic grain of the ash body, paired with a one-piece maple neck. Weighing 9lbs 2oz, this Strat has plenty of natural punch and authority, with a complex midrange character and clear note attack attributable to the tonewood complement. Plugged in, the trio of flat-pole gray bobbin single coil pickups excel at delivering a range of traditional Strat tonalities. The bridge pickup offers bite and sparkle, the middle has a certain honk and cut, and the neck single coil delivers a smooth, yet detailed tone that's ideal for solos and lead work. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, we've dialed in this Strat with fresh 10-46 strings, low action and accurate intonation.
The maple neck has a U-shaped profile carve with particularly full shoulders and a substantial feel in every register, measuring .875" deep at the 1st fret and .940" at the 12th. The original slender frets are intact, showing only light wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-8. The guitar plays easily up the 25 1/2" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The modern nut measures 1 5/8" in width. On the headstock, the original Stratocaster decal with one patent # is intact, along with the original Fender "F" tuning machines that turn very smoothly and hold pitch well. The neck heel retains its red ink stamp that dates to '75, and the original "paint stick" marking indicative of an original finish is present in the neck pocket.
All of the electronics work as they should, and the electronics are 100% original with untouched solder joints. All three gray pickup bobbins have matching 1975 date stamps, and the CTS pots date to the 51st week of '74. All original plastics are in excellent shape, with light uniform aging of the knobs and pickup covers. The chrome plating is bright and clean on the bridge and jack cup, and the vibrato has a smooth, deliberate response.
The Natural gloss finish is 100% original with no touchup or overspray, and cosmetic wear is limited to some scattered minor dings and light finish scratches on the body as a whole. The gloss finish on the neck profile is clean and smooth, with a sliver of palm wear through the gloss on the fretboard edges.
A vintage black tolex hardshell case is included with clean black leather ends, original latches, and the handle.
