Up for sale, a 1975 Fender Jazz Bass in exceptional condition and in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case. Tonewoods include an ash body, maple neck, and a bound maple fretboard, and at 12lbs 5oz, this bass has significant punch, sustain, and natural sonic heft.
The original pair of gray bobbin pickups feature enamel coated wire and Alnico V magnets offering the distinctive note clarity, burp and sweetness inherent to the Jazz Bass sound. The sheer weight of this bass ensures a certain fundamental breadth, and ash as a tonewood produces a pronounced growl and complex, textured midrange quality, accentuated by a fresh set of 45-100 roundwound strings. This Jazz Bass has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with easy-playing action and spot-on intonation.
The maple neck has a medium depth U-shaped profile carve with full shoulders, measuring .845” deep at the 1st fret and .999” at the 12th. The bound maple fretboard features pearloid block inlay, and the stock medium jumbo fretwire is practically perfect. This Jazz Bass plays cleanly up the 34” scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the nut measures 1 1/2“ in width. The headstock sports a block logo, bullet truss rod adjustment and clover-button tuners with Fender-embossed baseplates. The green ink stamp on the neck heel has largely faded, and the pocket features a bevy of factory stamps and markings.
All of the electronics function as intended, with the original pair of gray bobbin pickups, both of which retain their stock windings. The pickups retain their original stamps on the baseplates from '75, and the harness features the original trio of CTS pots. The original chrome-plated hardware has plenty of shine, including the control plate, bridge base, and steel barrel saddles. The genuine Fender "ashtray" bridge and pickup covers are modern replacements. Plastics comprise the original three-ply black pickguard, a modern black finger rest, and original trio of knobs.
The gloss Sunburst finish has a broad, vibrant central red band, and cosmetic wear is limited to a few small finish chips on the body perimeter, largely localized on the lower bout edge. There is light buckle wear on the edge of the belly carve and some light finish scratches on the body as a whole. The neck profile retains its smooth gloss.
A modern tweed Fender G&G Deluxe hardshell case is included.
