Up for sale, a 1974 Martin D-28 dreadnought acoustic guitar in excellent condition, complete with a hardshell case. This vintage Martin benefits from an upgraded carved bone nut and saddle, with a viable original neck set. Featuring solid East Indian rosewood back and sides and a solid Sitka spruce top, this D-28 offers ample power and projection, with boom and kick in the bass register, and sweet sparkle in the top end. While lightly played, the guitar does have an open, expressive quality befitting a soundboard that’s had decades to resonate maximally. A passive piezo undersaddle pickup has also been installed for further versatility. The guitar weighs 4lbs 14oz, freshly restrung with 12-54 bronze strings and professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with easy-playing action.

There is an extremely cleanly repaired headstock split below the volute and not extending to the headstock face, with targeted touch-up in this area. It’s an extremely tough repair to spot, and the instrument is otherwise crack-free. There are just a few light finish scratches and minor marks on the body as a whole, largely restrained to the back, and very light pick wear across the soundhole. The neck profile is free of palm wear, and the smooth nitro gloss on the profile has only a few small, shallow marks, largely clustered central to the carve behind frets 9-11.
A modern black tolex hardshell case is included, and all but one of the latches are functional.
