Up for sale, a 1974 Greco JB-550 in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. This unique “lawsuit”-era Greco was produced for just a few years in the early ‘70s, featuring an active “Power Booster” circuit, located beneath the pickguard.

The body is crafted from mahogany with teak front/back veneers, and a maple neck and fingerboard round out the tonewoods. Weighing 9lbs 11oz, this JB-550 has plenty of natural sustain and sonic authority on tap, with the treble immediacy of the maple fretboard faithfully captured by the single coil pickup pair. These pickups deliver an array of classic Jazz Bass-style tonalities, with a upper midrange-centric burp and focused growl at the bridge and wider, smoother sounds at the neck, particularly with the Tone knob rolled back. The active “Power Booster” two-way switch enables a huge surge in volume, driving an amp hard. This JB-550 has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 45-100 roundwound strings, comfortable action, and accurate intonation.
