Up for sale, a 1974 Gibson Les Paul Custom in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. Traditional ‘70s Gibson construction includes a “sandwich” mahogany body, carved maple top, mahogany neck, and a bound ebony fretboard, weighing 9lbs 11oz. And with a jumbo refret and included brass nut and speed knobs, this Les Paul is an ideal companion for the player seeking Randy Rhodes tones and aesthetics.
The pair of Patent Stickered T Top humbuckers are sweet-sounding and detailed, well-suited for round, growling cleans or thick, sizzling drive. Each pickup position is distinct, with more upper midrange detail in the bridge position and plenty of potent, articulate bark at the neck. The gloss Alpine White nitro lacquer finish is 100% original with no touch-up or overspray, and the clear coat shows subtle yellowing. There is light buckle wear on the back, some light pick wear across the strum path, and a few minor dings and scuffs consistent with careful use. The gloss on the neck profile is clean and smooth, and there are singular cleanly doweled mounting holes just inset from the Grovers for a different tuner set installed in the guitar's lifetime.
The original black tolex hardshell case is included. The case features functional latches, the original handle, and faded “Gibson” silkscreen on the lid.
