Up for sale, a 1974 Fender Twin Reverb in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original Victoria Luggage slip cover and two-button footswitch. Loaded with the original pair of Oxford 12T6 12" drivers and a matched quartet of modern Sovtek 5881 (6L6GC) power tubes, this amp lives up to its reputation for delivering the most formidable, glassy, and balanced clean tones a tube amp can provide. Perfect not only for guitar, the Twin is an excellent choice for any scenario where headroom is a must, performing equally well with a pedal steel or Rhodes piano.
The circuit is 100% original, save for a couple small electrolytics and an additional cap added to the tremolo circuit, retaining all of the original Schumacher-made transformers, dating between the 9th and 35th weeks of '73. The preamp has a combination of molded blue and brown capacitors along with carbon comp resistors used throughout. The original CTS pots have visible date codes from the 37th week of '73. The power supply caps are all original and still functioning as intended. The tube set comprises a set of properly biased Sovtek 5881 power tubes, while the preamp has mostly modern valves.
Freshly serviced by our techs here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Twin Reverb is a testament to Fender's quality and resiliency, necessitating limited work to perform its best. All pots have been sprayed out, all tube sockets tensioned, and all hardware tightened. All voltages have been tested to ensure optimal functionality, and the original three-prong power cable is present.
Inside the cabinet, the original tube chart is intact, and the pair of Oxford 12T6 12" speakers have blue foil Fender labels on the ceramic magnets, with clean black frames and viable original cones. The stickers on the speaker frames date to the 18th week of '74.
The smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth with orange stripe are well-kept, with some light wear on the lower forward edge of the enclosure. The original chrome-plated tilt-back legs are present, and the polished aluminum faceplate retains its turquoise text and full complement of witch hat knobs.
The original Victoria Luggage black slip cover is included, retaining its "Fender " silver silkscreen. The original two-button Reverb/Tremolo footswitch is also present.
