Up for sale, a 1973 Sunn Model T head in exceptional condition and in perfect working order, complete with its matching 412S Sunn speaker cabinet. This 1st generation Model T is the bone shaking, world-destroying amp beloved by guitarists and bassists alike, freshly retubed with a quad of Sovtek 6550s and professionally serviced here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with an extremely original circuit.
A two-channel five-input design (the fifth input conveniently bridges the channels), the Model T is a 150 watt powerhouse with a simple, straightforward control array including dedicated Volume knobs for the two channels, a three band EQ plus Presence knob, and a Master Volume so that the punch, grind and muscle of this amp can be had at the desired volume.
The circuit is extremely original, with robust original transformers manufactured by the Pacific company (1052 manufacturer designation) and dating to 1973. All of the original CentraLab and CTS pots are intact, with visible date codes from 1972. The amp features a complete recap of the power supply, with a few modern smaller electrolytics as well to ensure reliable, trouble-free operation. The tube complement includes a matched quad of Sovtek 6550 power tubes, with mostly vintage valves in the preamp as well from the likes of RCA and Raytheon.
The speaker cabinet is loaded with the original quad of 12" alnico magnet Sunn-branded 1216G black frame speakers. All four speakers retain their original cones, with one small cone repair on the upper right speaker.
The smooth black tolex on the head and cabinet is stunningly well-kept, and the silver sparkle grilllcloth on the speaker cabinet is also extremely clean with plenty of sparkle in the thread. Both head and cab retain their Sunn badges, and the faceplate shows sparingly little wear, complete with all of the stock witch hat knobs. The small back panel on the head is missing.
