Up for sale, a 1973 Fender Jazz Bass in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. A quintessential example of an early ‘70s Jazz Bass, this bass features an ash body and bound maple neck with black binding and block inlays.
Offering smooth sustain and a detailed, punchy quality, the maple fretboard delivers enhanced note attack and more upper midrange accentuation, with a particular burp and grind from the bridge pickup. The original pair of gray bobbin pickups feature enamel coated wire and Alnico V magnets, yielding growl and sweetness. Weighing 9lbs 10oz, this Jazz Bass has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 45-100 flatwound strings, easy-playing action, and accurate intonation.

The gloss Natural finish highlights the straight grain in the ash body, and the neck has considerable figuring extending across its length including the headstock and fingerboard. Extremely well-kept, cosmetic wear is limited to a small area of buckle wear central to the back, and some minor nicks and scuffs consistent with careful use. The gloss on the neck profile is clean and smooth with only a few shallow marks.
The original black tolex hardshell case is included and equally as clean as the bass with functional latches, the original handle and clean leather ends. The “ashtray” bridge/pickup covers are also included.
