Up for sale, a 1972 Gibson SG-100 in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with a “chainsaw” molded hardshell case. Among the more unique SGs produced during the Norlin era of Gibson production, the SG-100 was only crafted from 1970-72, featuring a solitary single coil neck pickup (the same as seen in Melody Makers).
The tonewood complement comprises an alder body, maple neck, and rosewood fretboard, and this SG-100 weighs 7lbs 1oz. The single coil pickup has a sparkle and chime with a percussive, woody cut. This SG-100 has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.
Neck Specs:
-Wood: Maple
-Shape: Chunky C, measuring .895” 1st fret, .915” 12th fret
-Fretboard: Rosewood, dot inlay
-Frets: Medium jumbo (wide/flat), virtually no wear
-Scale Length: 24 3/4”
-Nut: 1 9/16”
-Tuners: Gibson Deluxe double-line
Body Specs:
-Wood: Alder (beveled body edges)
-Pickups: Alnico V single coil x1
-Harness: Centralab pots date to 1966
-Hardware: Harmonica bridge with nylon saddles, control plate
-Plastics: One-ply black pickguard, witch hat knobs
The Walnut nitro lacquer satin finish exhibits only very light buckle rash on the back and just a scant few minor dings on the body as a whole. The smooth satin finish on the neck profile is flawless.
A vintage (circa 1980s) Gibson “chainsaw” molded hardshell case is included; two of the original latches are functional.
