1971 Guild S-100 Vintage Guitar Walnut w/ HB-1 Humbuckers & Case, Westerly USA

+ shipping

Up for sale, a 1971 Guild S-100 in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. A vintage example produced in the USA at Guild's Westerly, RI factory, the S-100 model is arguably most associated with Soundgarden’s Kim Thayil, who used one extensively throughout his career.

The S-100 takes many design cues from the Gibson SG (albeit with asymmetrical horns), and features the same tonewood construction, consisting of a mahogany body and neck paired with a rosewood fingerboard. The HB-1 humbuckers offer sweet, thick chug, channeling the rich growI of the mahogany build. The neck position is extra bold and beefy, while the bridge has a more focused, throaty bite. The two-way Phase mini toggle delivers a bold thinned-out cut when both pickups are engaged, and it's a very useful additional texture beyond the in-phase sounds on the three-way pickup selector toggle. Featherweight at 6lbs 8oz, this S-100 has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.

Cosmetic wear on the gloss Walnut finish includes scuffing on top, particularly prominent along the pick path, buckle rash on the back, and a number of dings and small chips on the body as a whole, most dense along the lower bout perimeter. The neck profile retains its smooth gloss, with limited palm wear along the spine behind frets 3-5, and a few of minor nicks along the profile length.

The original black tolex hardshell case is included.
