1971 Fender Pro Reverb Vintage Silverface Tube Amp 2x12, Oxford 12L6

Up for sale, a 1971 Fender Pro Reverb in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with a modern footswitch. Providing the general tonal character of a Twin Reverb, but boasting a tube rectifier and more manageable 40 watts of power, the Pro Reverb is a 2x12 amplifier with enough volume for large ensemble situations and the perfect balance between shimmering Fender cleans and smooth, touch-sensitive overdrive. A great platform for effects pedals too, the cleans on this Pro are balanced, clear, and warm. Of course reaching around 5 on the volume dial, things start to compress slightly, providing that dynamic, glassy sound which adds just the right amount of grit to the tone.The circuit is extremely original, and the preamp is untouched save for a recap of the electrolytic caps to ensure optimal performance. All of the original transformers are present, dating to early 1971 and manufactured by Fender's primary transformer supplier of the era, Schumacher. Visible codes on the original CTS pots also date to '71. The power supply has been recapped with high quality F&T and Samwha caps, and a three-prong power cable has also been installed. The tube complement includes a matched pair of Tung Sol small bottle 5881 (6L6GC) power tubes, a vintage Ken-Rad 5U4 "coke bottle" rectifier, and a combination of vintage and modern valves in the preamp from the likes of RCA and Phillips.The speakers are the original pair of Oxford 12L6 12" ceramic magnet speakers. These drivers ensure that the Pro delivers optimal headroom and rich, tight bass response, and the speakers have clean black frames, original blue foil Fender stickers on the magnets, and dated stickers on the edges of the frames from the 28th week of '71. The original tube chart is also fully intact inside the cabinet.The original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth with turquoise stripe is intact. The grillcloth shows modest aging, and the stock hardware is all accounted for as well including original tilt back legs, chassis straps, corners, caster inserts, handle, and Fender tail logo.A modern two-button footswitch is included.
