Up for sale, a 1970s Shin-Ei ER-23 Echo Reverb Master in excellent condition and in perfect working order. This Japanese-made spring reverb pedal delivers its own unique brand of atmosphere and depth, particularly well-suited for psychedelic, fuzzy sounds via a touch of natural distortion, featuring an actual mini spring reverb housed inside.
The ER-23 has a two-channel, three-input design (with two inputs on the Mic channel and one Guitar/Tape/Etc. input on the Music channel. The simple controls feature independent Volume knobs for each channel and a Master Echo control, which has a fairly wide sweep, offering cavernous echo when dialed up and just a subtle depth when restrained. Turning up the Volume knobs adds a natural preamp overdrive; the different channels drive differently, ranging from a touch of dirt (600K Mic channel) to gritty (Music Line channel) to full-on ripping sizzle (50k Mic channel).
The enclosure is solidly built, with distinctive, colorful graphics. Cosmetic wear is limited to a handful of minor marks on the unit, largely relegated to the sides. The graphics are practically pristine, and the original knobs and two-prong plug are intact.
