Up for sale, a 1970s Ace Tone X-3 combo organ in excellent condition and in perfect working order, freshly serviced by Synapse Audio Systems. Ace Tone, the predecessor to Roland founded by keyboard pioneer Ikutaro Kakehashi, produced a number of rare Japanese-made keyboards, and the X-3 is among the rarest.
Also available as an Ace Tone/Hammond co-branded keyboard, the X-3 dual manual drawbar combo organ features a straightforward yet feature-rich design with 37-key manuals, 9 drawbars, and numerous tone switches in a compact, portable form factor. The X-3 faithfully captures quintessential Hammond swirl and churn, with a bevy of bass register tone switches, two vibrato settings and percussion options.

Cosmetic touches include faux wood side panels, raised Ace Tone badges, and a transparent plexi music stand. All key contacts, switches and knobs have been thoroughly cleaned, and all keys are responsive and bouncy. And while this organ was designed for 100v use inside Japan, the transformer is overwound and the keyboard runs reliably at 120v USA power. Exceedingly well-kept, cosmetic wear is limited to a few minor nicks and scuffs on the enclosure edges and side panels.
The original expression pedal is included, along with a plexiglass music stand and the original quartet of screw-in legs. One leg has a repaired insert.
