Up for sale, a 1969 Martin D12-35 vintage dreadnought acoustic guitar in 100% original, collector-grade condition and in perfect working order. A one-owner instrument that's been babied its entire life in the Pacific Northwest, this D12-35 is one of the last to retain solid Brazilian rosewood back and sides, and these particular pieces of Brazilian have very dynamic, visually stunning grain patterns.A solid Sitka spruce top caps the Brazilian rosewood back and sides, and this 12 string has incredible chime, with the power and articulation that comes with the dreadnought body shape. The sound is extremely rich and layered, with a velvety, chorusing response, delivering both incredible breadth and string-to-string clarity, indicative of vintage Martin design and premium tonewood construction. Weighing 4lbs 14oz and freshly restrung with 10-47 bronze strings, the guitar has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with comfortable action. The mahogany neck has a soft V profile carve with plenty of substance, measuring .860” at the 1st fret and 1.045” at the 9th. The original slender fretwire is intact with its full factory height, showing only light uniform wear on the crowns of frets 1-3, extending more faintly beneath the plain strings until fret 7. The scale length is a full 25.4", and the original nut is 1 13/16" wide. On the headstock, the Martin logo is flawless on the Brazilian rosewood veneer, and the stock open-gear tuners still turn smoothly. On the body, the rosewood bridge sits flush with the top on all edges, with minimal deflection behind the bridge. The neck has never necessitated a reset, and the saddle still has decent height, with easy-playing action in every register. The original pickguard sits equally flat with virtually no curling or undue tension on the spruce top. A near mint, crack-free, no-excuses vintage Martin, this D12-35 exhibits just a few exceedingly faint finish scratches and tiny marks on the instrument as a whole, with faint pick wear beneath the strings and extending just beyond the back edge of the pickguard. The outer thirds of the back are bookmatched, with mirrored patterns in the Brazilian rosewood, and the sides are also bookmatched cuts of this hallowed tonewood. The original black tolex hardshell case is included and equally as well-kept as the guitar with original latches and handle.
