Up for sale, a 1969 Gibson ES-140T in near mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. A 3/4" size archtop with a compact 22 3/4" scale length, the ES-140T's dimensions are quite unique, boasting a fully hollow thinline maple body. The natural acoustic tone is clear, lively and smooth, and the neck position P-90 delivers both burly bark and glassy, dynamic treble snap, perfect for complex chord voicings or overdriven Bluesy sweetness. Featherweight at 4lbs, we've had this Gibson professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 roundwound strings. The one-piece mahogany neck has a slender C profile carve at the nut, with full shoulders in every register and notable heft as you travel up the fingerboard, measuring .800" deep at the 1st fret and .955" at the 9th. The dark rosewood fretboard retains the original medium jumbo fretwire which has its full factory height, practically perfect with just a hint of wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-2. The guitar plays easily up the truncated 22 3/4" scale, and the nut measures 1 9/16" in width. On the headstock, the gold Gibson silkscreen is extremely clean, and the double line Kluson Deluxe tuning machines turn smoothly and hold pitch well with original plastic buttons. The original electronics function as intended, and the P-90 features stock windings with some tape around the black plastic bobbin. The solder joints are untouched, and the Sprague Black Beauty tone cap is visible through the treble-side F hole. Hardware includes the original floating rosewood bridge and nickel trapeze tailpiece, and the original dark transparent tortoise pickguard rounds out the plastics in addition to the witch hat knobs. Stunningly well-kept with a gleaming chrome P-90 cover, the rich Sunburst nitro lacquer gloss finish shows zero fading on top, and cosmetic wear on the body is limited to just a few faint finish scratches in the clear coat of the gloss, and a few small nicks on the top headstock edge. The neck profile also retains a smooth nitro gloss, free of palm wear.
