Up for sale, a 1969 Fender Super Reverb in excellent condition and in perfect working order. A transitional "drip edge" example, this amp features aluminum trim framing the grillcloth, and the bias supply has been reverted to AB763 "Black Panel" circuit specs. The amp features its original quad of alnico 10" CTS speakers, pushing 40 watts of pure Fender clean tone via a pair of 6L6 power tubes. Perfect for gigging situations and an ideal recording amplifier, the amp provides pristine, muscly Fender cleans until you hit the 4-5 range on the volume dial, where a bit of tube and speaker breakup sends the amp into smooth overdrive. The Reverb is lush and deep, and the Tremolo has a nice pulse, with everything from swampy and slow to machine gun fast pulses.
The circuit is virtually untouched, retaining all of the original brown molded caps and original CTS pots with visible date codes from the 34th week of '68. The transformer complement is all original, manufactured by Schumacher (Fender's primary transformer supplier in the '60s), with date codes spanning early 1968 to the first few weeks of '69. The power cable has been upgraded to a modern three-prong for safety's sake, and the power supply retains the original, still viable Mallory caps. The amp features a pair of matched Ruby 6L6GC power tubes, along with numerous vintage (presumably original) RCA valves in the preamp.
The chassis itself is very clean, as is the original faceplate and stock witch hat knobs. The original quartet of CTS alnico speakers are intact, all with clean frames, original blue foil Fender stickers on the magnets, and date stamps from the 5th week of '69. The original speaker harness is present, as is the tube chart. The original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth with turquoise stripe are intact, with only minor wear around the edges of the cabinet and a couple bald corners. The original nickel corners, sphinx glides (feet), chassis straps, chrome pat. pending tilt-back legs, and raised "Fender" logo are present.
