Up for sale, a 1969 Fender Jazz Bass in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. This Jazz Bass was produced in the first quarter of '69, featuring original winds on the gray bobbin pickups, a "meatball" tortoise pickguard, chrome "ashtray" covers, and a notably saturated (and completely unfaded) Sunburst finish.
With an alder body, maple neck and bound rosewood fretboard, the bass has a very smooth, balanced and deep-sounding natural acoustic tone channeled faithfully through the pickup pair. The gray bobbin pickups deliver a round, articulate sound, accentuating the sweet treble growl of a fresh set of 45-100 roundwound strings. The bass has plenty of upper midrange presence and burp, with a more woody, round sound with the neck pickup favored, and thicker thump with the Tone control rolled back. This Jazz Bass weighs 9lbs 4oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with easy-playing action and accurate intonation.

The gloss three-tone Sunburst finish is extremely rich and vibrant, with zero “tan line” underneath the pickguard. Cosmetic wear includes a chip into the alder along the forward edge of the bridge pickup route as well as a bit of very light buckle scuffing on the back and some minor marks consistent with careful use. There are also a few small spots of very clean black touch-up along the body perimeter.
The original black tolex hardshell case is included. The case is equally as clean as the bass with functional latches, the original handle, and small tail-less Fender logo on the lid.
