Up for sale, a 1968 Gibson ES-335 TDC in exceptional condition and in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case. A notably clean and original example, this ES-335 TDC features the traditional tonewood combination of a semi-hollow maple body, one-piece mahogany neck and bound rosewood fingerboard.

Tonally authoritative and clear when strummed acoustically, the articulate natural response of the instrument is channeled through the original patent sticker T Tops humbuckers, with a chiming, dynamic treble snap, midrange-rich growl, and low end that is fat yet clear. The tone has the airy and warm qualities of its semi-hollowbody construction, offering the immediate attack and dynamic responsiveness of maple as a tonewood. The guitar weighs 7lbs 13oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 11-49 strings, low action and accurate intonation.

The one-piece mahogany neck has a medium C shape at the nut, and more shoulder and heft in the higher registers, measuring .845" deep at the 1st fret and .995" at the 12th. The rosewood fretboard has small block inlays, refretted with jumbo fretwire that has fractionally more meat and crown than the stock fretwire, showing no wear. The guitar plays cleanly in every register up the 24 3/4" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The original nut measures 1 9/16" in width. The headstock retains its original bell truss rod cover, and the original set of double line double ring Kluson Deluxe tuning machines are also intact (a single tuner button is a replacement). There is a tiny bit of chipping through the clear coat on the headstock inlays, and a similarly small amount of black lacquer touch-up on the edges of the Gibson logo.

All of the electronics work as they should, and both humbuckers have untouched solder on the covers and original patent stickers on the baseplates. The original chrome pickup covers, patent number ABR-1 Tune-o-Matic bridge, and trapeze tailpiece have gleaming plating, and all plastic parts are very tidy as well including the pickguard and quartet of witch hat knobs. The orange oval Gibson Kalamazoo, MI label is also intact inside the body.

Cosmetically, this guitar is a real stunner, and the gloss Cherry finish is a rich shade, with subtle vertical lacquer checking on top, and more prominent checking and minor cloudiness in the lacquer along the back lower bout body edge. There are some localized small dings on the treble-side lower bout rim, light buckle wear central to the back, and a few additional minor marks from careful use on the body as a whole. The neck profile retains its smooth gloss.

A modern SKB molded hardshell case with TSA latches is included.
