Up for sale, a 1968 Fender Super Reverb in excellent condition and in perfect working order, freshly serviced and loaded with Sovtak 6L6 power tubes. A transitional "drip edge" example, this amp features a set of unique cosmetic cues including aluminum trim framing the grillcloth and an early Silverface faceplate. Under the hood, this Super Reverb retains the same AB763 circuitry and components as its Black Panel-era predecessor. The amp features its original quad of 10" Oxford 10L6 ceramic magnet speakers, and this rare Super Reverb speaker complement has more punch and headroom than the more common CTS alnico magnet drivers seen in the majority of Supers from the Black and Silver eras.

The amp pushes 40 robust watts of pure Fender clean tone via a pair of Sovtek 6L6WGC power tubes, with an ideal blend of sparkle and low end muscle. Perfect for gigging situations and an ideal recording amplifier, the amp provides pristine, muscly Fender cleans until around 5 on the volume dial, where the amp cascades into smooth overdrive. The Reverb is lush and deep, and the Tremolo has a nice pulse, with everything from swampy and slow to quick chattering pulses.

The circuit retains all of the original Schmacher-made transformers (Fender's primary supplier in the Black and Silver eras) save for the reverb driver (modern replacement), dating between the 12th and 34th weeks of '68. The original CTS and Stackpole pots are all intact as well, with visible date codes from late '67 through ‘68. The AB763 circuit is identical to the Black Panel amps that preceded it, loaded with a bevy of blue molded Ajax caps that have a smooth, musical character. The preamp features new small electrolytic caps as well as one Sprague Orange Drop, while the power supply caps are all stock (and still viable), save for one vintage Sprague Atom. A three-prong power cable has also been installed. Tubes include the Sovtek power tube pair, a vintage RCA 5U4R rectifier, and a matchet set of Sovtek preamp tubes.

The amp boasts its original ceramic magnet Oxford 10L6 speaker quad with clean black frames and clean blue foil Fender labels. The model stickers on the frames all have 1968 date codes, and two of the speakers have been professionally reconed. More balanced and full-sounding particularly in the bass register than the alnico speakers more commonly seen in a Super Reverb, these Oxford ceramic drivers perfectly capture the nuance, sparkle, and power of the Super's AB763 circuit. Inside the cab, the original tube chart is present as well.

The original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth with turquoise stripe are intact, and stock hardware includes the nickel-plated corners, Fender logo, tilt-back chrome legs, handle caps, chassis straps and sphinx glides (feet). The chassis itself is very clean, as is the original faceplate and stock witch hat knobs.
