Go to the shopUp for sale, a 1968 Fender Showman Reverb TFL5000D in excellent condition and in perfect working order, freshly serviced and complete with a two-button footswitch. One of the very first examples of the Showman Reverb produced, this amp has a full suite of date codes spanning 1967-68, with the "drip edge" aluminum trim and Silverface cosmetics first seen in 1968. A top of the line model prizing pristine clean headroom, the Showman pushes 100 all-tube watts via a quad of 6L6 power tubes.
The two channel design matches the earlier Black Panel era Showman amps, with the notable addition of Fender's tube-driven Reverb circuit, ensuring plenty of dimension and surfy splash. The onboard Tremolo has a strong pulse, and both effects can be engaged via the included two-button footswitch.
The circuit is very original and freshly serviced only as strictly necessary to ensure optimal performance, with a full recap of the power supply with high quality Sprague Atoms and smaller Sprague electrolytic caps in the preamp as well. The majority of original capacitors are intact in the preamp save for a couple substitutions, and there are a few new low-noise metal film resistors too. All of the original Schumacher-made transformers are intact (Fender's primary transformer supplier in the era) with dates spanning 1967-mid 1968. All of the original CTS pots are also present and have 1968 source date codes. The tube complement includes a matched quad of Sovtek 6L6s, with a combination of vintage and modern valves in the preamp.
The smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcoth with turquoise stripe is impressively preserved, save for a couple tiny snags on the grill and one repaired tolex tear on the back cabinet edge. The head retains its raised Fender logo (with tail), with clean turquoise text on the faceplate and all of the stock witch hat knobs.
A modern two-button footswitch is included.
