Up for sale, a 1968 Fender Mustang in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. 100% original save for a modern carved bone nut, this Mustang is one of the very last slab-bodied examples before the introduction of the “Competition” series, featuring a greened-out Daphne Blue nitro lacquer finish, black bobbin pickups, and a flame maple neck.
Smooth and clear-sounding acoustically, this Mustang offers jangle and sparkle in the bridge position, with more warmth and woody cut at the neck. One of the most fun sounds on the Mustang is the out-of-phase setting, engaged when both on/off/on pickup selector switches are at their innermost or outermost points for a distinctive quack and spank. The neck is fast-feeling and smooth with considerable palm wear through the gloss and figuring in the maple along the profile length.
The original gray speckled hardshell case is included. The two outer latches function and the handle is intact.
